(Pasadena) The La Salle Lancer cruised down Sierra Madre Avenue and on to the campus of Pasadena High School for an early season battle with the Bulldogs. It took overtime but the Lancers prevailed Friday night 28-21.

La Salle got first crack on offense in the overtime period and needed only two plays to get the go ahead touchdown. Nico Cantos carried the ball both times and scored on an 11-yard run.

The Bulldogs were up next and moved the ball from the 25 to the nine. Four plays later Jorge Reyna’s pass in the corner of the endzone was caught by Chaz Collins but he was ruled out of bounds on the catch to end the game.

***On the ground for the Bulldogs Joseph Thomas had 15 carries for 105-yards a a touchdown.

***Will Pyburn only connected on 10 of 26 passes for 150-yards for La Salle but scored twice on six and one yard runs.

***On the other side Jorge Reyna hit on 21 of 37 passed for 248-yards and a touchdown but was picked off three times. Reyna also added 78-yards rushing.

***Opening holes for Cantos and protecting Pyburn were LT Colby Garcia, LG Victor Saavedra, C Esteban Sanchez, RG Sammy Martinez, RT Emari McClellan.

***Chaz Collins caught eight balls for 66-yards.

***Tyrek Adams caught four passes for 101-yards including an 81-yard touchdown catch and run.

***Elijah Trejo also caught six balls for 87-yards.

***Protecting Reyna on the evening were LT Christian Lofton, LG Jeremiah Jones, C Gabriel Mondragon, RG Justin Castro RT Mehm Hacimic.

***The Bulldogs are back on the road next Friday night to face Artesia while La Salle returns home to host Tri Valley League power Bishop Diego.
