Cathedral 12 Muir 7 FINAL: Chase Keough and Taeon Mason both played. They hooked up for a 27-yard touchdown pass, but it was a touchdown pass from Phantom southpaw Andrew Tovar to Aaron Moore, with five minutes to play, that won it for the visitors.

Los Alamitos 41 Paramount 9 FINAL: The Pirates trailed 14-9 at the half. Second string quarterback Greg Filer III scored on a short run his team’s only touchdown.

St. Paul 24 Warren 15 FINAL: Quarterback Jacob Maier continues to lead the Swordsmen, and the throws for two, rushed for another in victory.

St. John Bosco 48 Norwalk 3 FINAL: Bosco’s Josh Rosen scored five touchdowns.

Artesia 43 Magnoila 22 FINAL: Vincent Brown returned a kick-off 90-yards for six, and Christian Rodriguez returned a pick six 60-yards to spark the Pioneers.

Bellflower 10 Pacifica 7: Buccaneers take lead at start of fourth and then kill the final six minutes of clock. Marquise Lowe rushes 28 times for 205 yards. “Very happy with the performance of my offensive line.”—Bellflower OC Derek Bedell 

Calabasas 53 Burroughs 31 FINAL: In a night that was truly a “Thank you Sir, may I have another?” type of night for the Indians, they did get a solid performance out of running back Chance Bell, who picked up 152 yards on the ground.

Hoover 26 Sotomayor 12 FINAL: David Nersisyan and Elijah Augustine combine for 244 yards rushing and three touchdowns to lead the Tornadoes.

Buena Park 53 California 6 FINAL: Condor HC Kyle Trudell saw his team get a pair of field goals and nothing else against Anthony White’s BP bunch.

Troy 28 El Rancho 21 FINAL: The Ranch got a pair of touchdowns from Isaiah Copado in the disappointing loss.

Vista Murrieta 14 Downey 13 FINAL: Trevor Hill threw a short scoring pass to Jalen Thompson and Justin Huff added a 3-yard touchdown run but a blocked extra-point was the difference against powerful VM. Hill left the game with an injury and was replaced by Eddie Preciado.

Dominguez 27 L.B. Jordan 6 FINAL: Keith Hairston and Josh Ford combined to rush for over 200 yards and quarterback Donald Smith first two touchdowns for the Dons.

Mid-Valley Division
Schurr 35 El Monte 6 FINAL: The MVS staff first heard talk about Schurr’s Adam Polanco during the summer, but the Lions learned all about the freshman quarterback Friday night as he passed for three touchdowns and ran for two more. It was the first meeting between the schools since 1981 when they were both members of the Mission Valley League. The Spartans won, 30-7, that night.

Ganesha 7 Gladstone 6 FINAL: In the dying moments of the third quarter, Ganesha QB Albert Henry rushed for a 2-yard score. After drilling the extra point, the Giants took the lead and it stayed that way for the rest of the game as Ganesha improved 2-0 for first time in 15 years.—Tim Mercado 

Paraclete 16 Dorsey 14 FINAL: Melquise Stovall rushes for 115 yards and a pair of touchdowns, but its a bad snap that leads to game winning safety for Spirits.

La Habra 61 South Hills 0 FINAL: Fair to say, life sucks on Saturday morning for the Huskies…at least in the perspective of football.

Diamond Bar 44 Walnut 7 FINAL: The schools still play for the “Branding Iron” and it stays with D-Bar. Mustang quarterback Micah Maes, again, played well and Andrew Coronado rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown but it wasn’t enough. The Brahmas era under new HC Marcus Hughes is now 2-0 and they have outscored opponents by a combined 92-21.

West Covina 55 L.B. Wilson 7 FINAL

Glendora 24 Alta Loma 26 FINAL: Matt Fink was good, the Tartans defense was great. Braves lone score comes on kick-off return. DC Greg Vaniman’s unit shuts them down the ret of the way. Andrew Montano rushes for 129 yards for Glendora.

Bloomington 28 Ontario 7 FINAL

Poly-Riverside 24 Colony 14 FINAL: The Titans got a quick score from running back Ryan Kinnard and Jordan Johnson’s 1-yard run gave them a 14-10 lead in the third, but Poly rallied late to take victory.

Yucaipa 38 Grand Terrace 14 FINAL: GT got a nice game out of Devon Dixon…and that’s all they had to say about that.

Redlands East Valley 35 Summit 7 FINAL: Skyhawks hammered by East Valley.

San Gorgonio 35 Kaiser 7 FINAL: Cats quarterback Elijah Hernandez was harassed all night, and the offense was out paced yardage wide by SG 4 to 1 in the loss.  The lone highlight was a 35-yard scoring pass from Hernandez to Michael Pruitt early on.

Coachella Valley 41 Desert Hot Springs 14 FINAL: Roman Camacho shined for struggling Golden Eagles, now 0-2, with a pair of scores.

Maranatha 49 Firebaugh 9 FINAL:The Minutemen dominated the Falcons, scoring the first 21 points and leading, 28-3, at halftime. The lead was extended moments later when junior Dexter Myers ran back the second-half kickoff 93-yards for a touchdown.
“That was very good to start out the gate playing well,” Maranatha head coach Steve Bogan said. “I think the big difference was [how] we started.”

Maranatha quarterback Eli Snyder completed 11 of 16 passes for 211 yards, with one touchdown and one interception. Caleb Devine shined, carrying the ball nine times for 115 yards and three touchdowns. Senior Andrew Morales added 44 yards and two touchdowns on five carries, including a trick play in which Devine handed the ball off to Morales on a reverse that resulted in a nine-yard touchdown.

Myers excelled on offense, special teams, and defense. In addition to his 93-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, he also caught three passes for 30 yards as a receiver and intercepted two passes while playing safety. His first pick came on Firebaugh’s second drive and led to one of Devine’s touchdown runs on the ensuing possession, giving Maranatha a 14-0 lead. Cathedral City 27 Rancho Mirage 10 FINAL: Marques Prior’s 31-yard touchdown run pulled the Rattlers close at 13-10, but CC quickly closed the door. Rancho Mirage is now 0-2.

Shadow Hills 34 Palm Desert 14 FINAL: The Knights spotted PD a 14-0 and then roared back with 34 points. Isaiah Ortega-Dage rushed for 300 yards and 4 touchdowns to lead Shadow Hills.
