The road doesn’t get easier for John Hardy’s Muir Mustangs

La Mirada continues to impress while Salesian was knocked down a notch by Montclair. St. Francis entered the fray with a big win and La Serna surprised Los Osos. It wasn’t easy but La Salle stayed unbeaten and Downey, despite a loss, raised some eyebrows.

1. La Mirada (2-0) – After beating Charter Oak, no question here.

2. Norwalk (1-0) – Lancers won’t get beaten up for falling to St. John Bosco.

3. St. Francis (1-0) – Golden Knights make nice opening night statement.

4. La Serna (1-1) – Margarito Beltran and company prove again that they can play with the big boys.

5. Cathedral (1-0) – Not pretty but Phantoms beat Muir to kick off campaign.

6. Burbank (2-0) – Bulldogs undefeated but James Williams latest to fall to injury.

7. La Salle (2-0) – Is a seven point OT win over Pasadena impressive or ugly?

8. Downey (1-1) – Vikings won’t hang heads over loss to Vista Murrietta.

9. Salesian (1-1) – Mustangs lay an egg in Claremont.

10. Muir (0-2) – Road keeps getting rockier; Hart next.

In the mix: Pasadena (1-1), Dominguez (1-1), Paramount (1-1), Crescenta Valley (0-1), Bellflower (2-0)
