“Love has been waiting, patient and kind.
Just wanting a phone call or some kind of sign,
That the one that she cares for, who’s out of his mind,
Will make it back safe to her arms.”

Kick it!

Right off the top: Fantasy Basketball? Is it worth my time?

Has anyone heard of Nogales running back Cameron Eaglin yet? He’s rushed for nearly a thousand yards…Just throwing it out there.

The last time Keppel beat Alhambra was on November 8th, 1997 when they crashed the Moors centennial celebration. Alhambra leads the all time series 58-12-4 as the two schools have met every year since 1940. I have to double check, but it may be CIF’s longest running (continuous) rivalry.

Believe it or not, I’ve been wrong before…but I say with confidence…I have a feeling Crescenta Valley-Muir won’t be that close. The Falcons defense is better than most think and I have them winning 42-21 at Muir on Friday…With the warm smell of colitas rising up in the air.

No One Notices I Think I’ll Dye My Hair Blue Dept.: Barker mentioned him on the Tuesday show, Covina’s Eric “Pooh” Williams, a junior playmaker, might be having the best season no one is noticing. He’s part of the Colts three pronged attack that includes Pearnell Smalley and quarterback Joe Benavidez.

Take one look at the Covina-San Dimas records and you know it is going to be hot on Friday night.

Since we’re opening the vault…I looked and rediscovered on this date in 1987 that then Star News Prep Editor Steve Hunt sent me down the 605 to see St. Francis (1-6) play St. John Bosco (5-1-1).

The Golden Knights rallied late and tied the game at 21 when quarterback Bill Morris (121 yards rushing/137 passing) scored on a 13-yard run and Jeff Dyrek added the deuce. The Braves won the game with 30 seconds left in the fourth when Leo Byrne kicked a 32-yard field goal.

Then I had to jump in the car, race all the way back to Pasadena, input my stats, bang out my three paragraphs, and pray that I pushed “Store” before I pushed “Execute” and lost everything before deadline…No kidding, it was a lot of fun.

Last Add 1987: For what it’s worth La Canada beat Monrovia, 21-0, at home that same night. Spartans safety Dave Paladino picked off three passes and added a 3-yard touchdown run.

Note to NorRock: Can I get some special parking on Friday night? I never used to think special parking was that big of a deal but, since we live in an age where leaving the house two hours before kick-off can make you late, parking has become imperative.

Last Add Cantwell: The Cardinals have only given up 44 points through seven games in 2014.

Last Add La Canada: It’s all been good up to now, and take nothing away from the first seven games of the season, but San Marino is coming to town on Friday night and bringing judgement with them.

How good is Northview’s Alex Camacho? He leads his team in touchdowns, tackles, and sacks…Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

In regards to Nick Foles: Is the party over in Philadelphia already?

In regards to Austin Davis: It’s nice to see that Brett Favre has endorsed the young St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams quarterback…I think.
