(Whittier) – Anthony Garcia rushed for three touchdowns and Kevin Ramos added two more on the ground as La Serna ran over Santa Fe 52-31 Thursday night at Cal High.

The Lancers led 31-17 at the half and then broke it wide open in the third quarter as Garcia scored twice to give the Lancers a 45-17 bulge. Santa Fe scored a couple late fourth quarter touchdowns when Margarito Beltran cleared his bench.

The Lancers scored on their first two possessions to go up 14-0. After a long punt return set the Lancers up, Ramos capped a short 30 yard drive with a six-yard run. After the Chiefs were forced to punt again, La Serna drove 80 yards in 10 plays with Garcia going the last four.

Santa Fe played catch-up the rest of the way behind the passing of Eli Ledesma and running of Gabriel Cisneros but the Chiefs could never climb the mountain. They cut it the La Serna lead to 14-7 on an 83 yard pass play from Ledesma to Cisneros and to 21-14 on a quarterback sneak by Ledesma but that as close as they got.

Ramos busted off a 33-yard touchdown run with 2:37 left in the first half to make it 28-14 and the Lancers still led by two scores at the break before pulling away in the third.
