.) Former El Monte American/El Monte Lions standout running back Luke Ayala welcomes the birth of his first son. Dylan arrives measuring 21 inches, 9.2lbs.

.) “On Halloween, the parents sent their kids out looking like me.”—Rodney Dangergfield

.) The “Crime Dog” Fred McGriff turns 51 today.

.) “El Rancho, I called it in the summer/preseason, that I thought ER would have a good team this year, not because I knew about El Ranchos team, but because I stumbled across them looking up Bell Gardens frosh record of 2011.
Why I was looking up Bell Gardens frosh from 2011 I don’t remember, but I saw they were 9 and 1 and killed everybody by ridiculously high scores, scores like in the 60′s, 70′s, and even a score in the 80′s. So I was curious as to who was the team that beat them, and it turned out to be a 10 and 0 El Rancho team.”—MVS commenter “Dan”

.) Long time El Monte HC & basketball fixture John “Rat Dog” Gillette is serving as an assistant basketball coach at Garden Grove High School. He plans on retiring from teaching this June.

.) “Can we start saying the Ranch is for real yet?”—MVS commenter “elrancho”

.) “Halloween night Bassett vs La Puente playoff spot on the line. I told my kids get the trick or treating done early cuz we going to go see the Olympians play. Winner of this game is whoever make the least mistakes. Should be a battle. Olympians vs the Warriors.”—MVS commenter “Olympian Fan”

.) “All those Sumler boys were great players. Proud Rosemead Rebels also.”—MVS commenter “NWO”
