(Rosemead)- The Rosemead Panthers steamrolling of the Mission Valley League continued Friday night at Marinelli Stadium with a 51-14 flattening of the South El Monte Eagles.

The Panthers got a combined 326 rushing yards from Angel Lopez and Robbie Franco to overcome an early 8-0 deficit and never look back. Franco rushed for two touchdowns and scored a third on a 63-yard fumble return late in the first half.

Rosemead:
*Clinched Mission Valley League championship. On road at Mountain View next Friday night to go for MVL perfection.
*The Panthers rushed for a total of 355 yards on 41 attempts.
*Angel Lopez rushed 20x for 224 yards and one TD.
*Robbie Franco rushed 9x for 102 yards and two TDs. Franco, finishing the night with three TDs overall, had his other score on a 63-yard fumble return with 1:06 left in the first half. The fumble was forced by Jasper Chavez, who recovered a fumble of his own late in the third quarter.
*Patrick Lopez: 8rush 42yds 1 TD.
*Steven Nava completed 8 of 11 passes for 128 yards and one TD, a six yard strike to Michael Sahagun for the third stanza’s lone score. Nava also had a two-yard sneak into paydirt to account for a second TD. Nava was sacked twice.
*Sahagun, with three receptions for 60 yards and a TD, also etched his name in the defensive category with a 12-yard fumble return to SEM’S 11-yard line in the third quarter that ultimately set up his own score on the six-yard strike from Nava two plays later.
*Other receiving stats: Jordan Parham: 3rec 41yds, Luis Luna 2rec 27yds.
*Jesus Renteria had been unsuccessful on two prior field goal attempts (29yd 1Q, 38yd 3Q) before splitting the uprights on his third try shortly into the fourth quarter to swell Rosemead’s lead to 36 points (44-8), which ushered in a running clock.
