(Glendale)- Bryan Gadsby played like Bryan Gadsby accounting for four touchdowns as the Crescenta Valley Falcons defeated the Harvard-Westlake Wolverines 42-14 on Friday at Moyse Field in the first round of the Southeast Division playoffs.

The routine is to talk about the Falcons offense, but over the back half of the season coaches and fans are beginning to take notice of the defense. Against H-W they surrendered very little as both Wolverine scores came from special teams mishaps.

When given a level field the CV stoppers crushed the Wolverine attack and forced three turnovers that were turned into points.

BK Kim, right guard, scored the first touchdown for Crescenta Valley late in the second quarter when Gadsby faked a handoff and stuffed into into Kim’s mid-section. The lineman easily went 17-yards to paydirt on what is called a “Guard Special”.

Two minutes later a bad snap sailed over CV punter Kevin Ginossian’s head and Harvard-Westlake took over at the 12. A blink of an eye later Marshall Cohen went 12-yards to Albert Choi to tie the game.

Like lightening the Falcons immediately struck back on a 9-yard scoring pass from Gadsby to Connor Van Ginkel with 14 seconds left in the half.

Except for hiccup the third quarter belonged to CV. Jonathan Jun ran 7-yards for a touchdown, Gadsby went 39-yards to Van Ginkel and with two minutes left in the period Gadsby scored on a quarterback sneak.

The Wolverines Garrett Robinson returned the ensuing kick-off 92-yards for a touchdown but the tea had already been tossed over the side. Gadsby added another short scoring run to close out the scoring.

Harvard-Westlake will be turning in its gear after a successful 7-4 season, the Falcons have earned a date at Paramount, victors over Norwalk, next week.
