“When shall we three meet again in thunder, lightning, or in rain? When the hurlyburly ‘s done, when the battle ‘s lost and won”.—Shakespeare

Kick it!

Right off the top: If you’ve ever had your skull opened, sand poured on your brain, and your skull closed then you know what it is like to hear Wham sing “Last Christmas”.

The trick in stopping San Dimas is not figuring out the Wing-T or the Delaware Wing…The key to stopping the Saints is stopping the Wing-Z, and I don’t know if is something that can be beaten by scheme as much as it can be beaten by mentality. That mentality has to be physical and disciplined. If you are not disciplined against Bill Zernickow’s bunch on a Friday night in November then you are going to be watching them the first weekend in December.

Pomona is talented enough, but the question begs; are they disciplined enough? They have not been tested since losing to Colony in September and the loss to Santa Monica was without Darreon Lockett (36 Td passes/9 rushing Tds).

I’m going with the Saints, 47-38.

Note to Joe T. (from local coach): “Expect a lot of changes after the first of the year.”

Some may have noticed my rah rah-ing for Cantwell this season. My response is I was justified. The Cardinals came back from a miserable 2013 season to go 8-3…That’s a heck of a season.

But they did break my heart…

Question: Is there anything worse than going 8-3, 9-2, or 10-1?

Just once wouldn’t you like to hear a coach say: “We sucked, I suck, and I don’t even want to think about football again until January.

So how does Ayala with two Division I defensive backs (CB Malik Psalms & FS Afia Philips) miss the playoffs?

Burbank’s been written off for two months and they keep turning up like a bad penny…There is no reason to think they’ll beat Salesian, but that is exactly the reason you have to give them a shot.

Remember as miserable as things were for La Mirada last week it took two amazing plays by Keisean Nixon to get the Mustangs past the Matadores. Just something to think about.

Would you consider inviting new New England running back LeGarrette Blount to Thanksgiving? I mean, he’s not exactly Mr. Personality.

On this date in 1998 Temple City beat Redondo Union, 13-7, in the first round of the playoffs at North Field. Jamil Frazier rushed for 126 yards, including a 32-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

In another part of the southland on the same night Chino beat Downey 40-13.

Next Add Coaching Changes: Long time El Monte assistant Gilbert Garcia has called it a career and will be moving to Las Vegas with his wife. Garcia was devoted to the football on the field at his alma mater as well as to building the image of the program off of it. He played a key part in creating “The Jungle” and the Lions program will miss him. We wish him nothing but the best.

Speaking of Downey: I truly believe they have a shot against Cathedral. In fact, I’m going to say they’ll win. The Vikings have won six in a row and have not been stung defensively in nearly two months. Downey soaks the Phantoms 30-22.

Regards:

In regards to Warren: Any discussion about the San Gabriel Valley League in 2015 better include the Bears. They have four of five returning on the offensive line, they have athletes, and Raul Lara in his second year as HC.

In regards to Charter Oak-San Marino: My decision has been made…Charter Oak, 42-30.

In regards to St. Francis QB Miles Bryant: “Myles is a former monrovia qb who transferred to SF. He is legit. What a stage he has to introduce himself to the Football world. I am pulling for him, Regardless of the transfer. He is good kid, and wonderful talent. Bryants first varsity pass went for a touch down against San Dimas in last season. His only problem might be trying to do too much. If you know this kid, he has a lot of swagger and confidence. I can’t wait to see what kind of night he has tomorrow.”—MVS commenter “Greenie”

In regards to what a I want for Christmas: A 25th hour…are those available anywhere for purchase?

In regards to Nipomo: I believe in the Titans!
