Mt Sac 39           Bakersfield 17                            (Nov 28, 2009 at Walnut, CA)

Mt. Sac moves on to the semi-finals in the California Community College Athletic Association with a solid win over visiting Bakersfield.

On offense, Jesse Canada (Monrovia) led the way for the locals with six catches for 136-yards and a touchdown. Ahmere Owens (Muir) caught two for 15 and carried once for four yards and Michael Harrell (Charter Oak) had one for 22. On the ground Bryce McBride (Los Altos) had five carries for 14-yards and a reception for 32.

The defense was led by Arness Ikner (Pasadena) with seven tackles and Austin Daniels (Muir) had two tackles and an interception that he returned 55-yards for a touchdown to end the game.

Mt. Sac now will face Palomar, who pulled off the upset against Fullerton College, December 5, 2009 for the right to face San Mateo for the State Championship.

In the heart breaking loss in overtime in what was their final junior college game, Joe Morales (South El Monte) and Alex Valdez (Schurr) each had seven tackles. Filipo Tuala(South El Monte) had four tackles, Juan Perez (South El Monte) had three tackles and a sack and Raul Pintado (Schurr) had two tackles. David Slover (South Hills) and A.J. Pasalo (Charter Oak) had two and one tackle respectively.
