(La Verne) – Former South El Monte head coach Ibis Aguilar has found a new home. He is now an assistant coach at Bonita.
“I’m excited about it. It’s an excellent staff and a great place to work,” Aguilar said. “I’ve lived in the area for about ten years and I know Coach (Adrian) Medrano and the entire staff. It’s a great fit for me.”
Aguilar was let go by South El Monte after the Eagles finished 3-7 last year and missed the playoffs. Aguilar is looking to be a head coach again but for now is happy with the opportunity at Bonita. He will be the receivers coach and help Medrano with the offense.
“I definitely want to be a head coach again but for now I’m going to work here for the next couple of seasons and then see what’s out there. I wanted to take a step back from being a head coach for now and take a look at things,” Aguilar added.
The Bearcats advanced to the semi finals of the Central Division playoffs last season where they lost to Los Altos.
