(Carson)- The Galaxy did what they needed to do Wednesday night against PSA Elite in an Open Cup match. PSA Elite scored first but LA responded by reeling off the next six goals including three by Robbie Keane in a 6-1 rout before 4, 055 at StubHub Center.

Michael Salazar broke away and got one past Galaxy goalkeeper Brian Rowe in the 12th minute for a 1-0 Elite advantage. That just made the Galaxy mad. They quickly answered with two as Sebastian Lleget forced one home in the 17th minute and two minutes later Gyasi Zardes buried one in the back of the net off of a pretty cross pass from Robbie Keane who received a feed from Ignacio Maganto for a 2-1 LA lead.

Keane was stopped right in front on a shot on goal in the 28th minute but he wasn’t denied in the 29th as he rifled one by the Elite goalkeeper as LA took a 3-1 lead into the break.

In the second half the onslaught continued as Keane got his second of the night as he headed one in off of a perfectly placed free kick from Jose Villarreal in the 53rd minute..

The hat trick came in the the 70th minute when Keane again used his head to knock it by the goal keeper and the Galaxy was cruising 5-1. After the third goal LA Coach Bruce Arena gave his MVP the night off.

Baggio Husidic joined the party seven minutes has he fired one in the back of the net from the left side off a pass from Oscar Sorto.

The Galaxy’s six goals are a club record for goals in a U.S Open Cup match.

The Galaxy outshot PSA Elite 21-7. With the victory the Galaxy advanced to the fifth round of the Open Cup. They will find out their opponents on Thursday.
