Friday

Almont League

Montebello (7-1, 3-0) at Bell Gardens (5-3, 2-1)

The game might be closer than anticipated as the Lancers are in a must win situation and the Oilers can lock up the Almont with a win. Montebello is playing better football right now.

Montebello 27 Bell Gardens 21

Alhambra (4-4, 2-1) at Schurr (3-5, 2-1) at Montebello High School

The Spartans are coming off a huge upset of Bell Gardens and have hopes for second in the Almont. So do the Moors who also have a shot at a share of the league title with a win next week over Montebello. With all that is at stake, the loser could be only observers in the post season.

Alhambra 17 Schurr 14

Miramonte League

Pomona (6-2, 2-0) at Bassett (6-2, 3-0)

The Olympians may be the only team in the Miramonte with a remote chance of challenging the Red Devils. That chance is deserted island remote and Pomona will win big.

Pomona 50 Bassett 20

Mission Valley League

Mt. View (4-4, 1-3) at South El Monte (2-6, 2-2)

Not a lot more than pride on the line for the Vikings and Eagles with only two playoff spots guaranteed in the MVL. Mt. View squeaks out the victory.

Mt. View 30 South El Monte 28

Gabrielino (3-5, 2-2) at Arroyo (6-2, 4-0)

The Eagles need two victories to get to .500 and have a glimmer of post season dreams but won’t get there against the Knights who have a battle looming with Rosemead for the league title.

Montview League

Gladstone (3-5. 1-2) at Azusa (2-6, 2-1) at Citrus College

As rough as the season has been for the Aztecs, second place in the Montview and a playoff birth is still within reach with a win Friday and next week over Sierra Vista. They’ll have to get by the Gladiators first who would love to play spoilers.

Azusa 17 Gladstone 14

Sierra Vista (4-4, 2-1) at Duarte (0-8, 0-3)

The Dons need and should get the win setting up a showdown with Azusa next week. The Falcons, well, let’s just say hope springs eternal for 2016.

Sierra Vista 40 Duarte 6

Valle Vista

San Dimas (5-3, 2-1) at Covina (6-2, 3-0) at Covina District Field

A guaranteed second place is on the line for both the Saints and Colts. The Colts still have a shot and the Valle Vista title with a win over San Dimas and Northview next week. All is not lost for the loser however with four at-large spots available in the Mid Valley Division playoffs.
