Northwest Division Game Night: Week 10

By Joe Torosian

(All game times 7:00 P.M. unless otherwise indicated.)

Friday, November 6

AMBASSADOR
Linfield Christian (3-1, 8-1) at Ontario Christian (2-2, 6-3)
The Knights could really complicate things with an upset of the Lions. That’s what it would take, an upset. So it’s not likely, LC wins, OC goes to the altar and prays for a CIF invitation.
Linfield Christian: 40-20

Notre Dame/Riverside (4-0, 9-0) at Aquinas (3-1, 6-3)
Unless Linfield seriously biffs it against Ontario Christian, the Falcons are in the playoffs no matter what happens against the Titans. If they can find a way, if Branden Rankins has an out of this world game, and they win…Then Aquinas gets a share of the Ambassador title. Not happening. This is the perfect game NDR needs to begin its title run.
Notre Dame/Riverside: 28-7

DE ANZA
Shadow Hills (3-2, 4-5) at Desert Hot Springs (3-2, 6-3)
It’s a coin flip for third place in the De Anza. Winner keeps practicing, loser turns in its gear. I’ve been giving Shadow Hills the benefit of the doubt all year…and they haven’t had a great year. Because confidence is shaken I’m leaning toward the DHS Golden Eagles and running back Markese Denmon.
Desert Hot Springs: 18-16

NORTHERN
Santa Maria (1-2, 2-7) at Templeton (1-2, 5-4)
Through nine games this season Eagles quarterback Jordan Bernal has thrown for 15 touchdowns and run for nine more. He might equal those numbers this Friday night against SM. Templeton fans be sure to gas up, you’ll be on the road next week.
Templeton: 50 14

OLYMPIC
Heritage Christian (1-2, 4-5) vs. Whittier Christian (0-3, 3-6) at Whittier College
A win and the Warriors are in the playoffs for the second time in two years under Scott Hurst. They shouldn’t overlook the Heralds. Quinn Commans and the Whittier Christian offense can still deliver. The Heritage running game needs to keep them off the field.
Heritage Christian: 30-7

Village Christian (1-2, 5-4) at Maranatha (2-1, 5-4)
Mark Bates and his Crusaders finished 5-5 a year ago and missed the playoffs. A victory over the Minutemen will make them 6-4 for this season and put them into the dance. Natha is playing a lot of young players and CalPreps projects them getting a 27-12 victory. We’ll take the Minutemen, but think it will be closer and that they’ll win by a Bogan.
Maranatha: 24-23

PREP
Rio Hondo Prep (2-0, 5-3) at Pasadena Poly (2-0, 6-3) Kickoff: 2:30P.M.
Everything from the last two years says to go with the Panthers, but this Kares team has been getting a little bit better each and every week. It’s not going to be easy and might deplete them before the playoffs, but go with RHP on the road.
Rio Hondo Prep: 21-20

SOUTH CATHOLIC
Bishop Montgomery (2-0, 8-1) vs. Verbum Dei (2-0, 4-5) at LA Southwest College
You have to play them all. Verbum Dei’s shot in this game was lost when Davir Hamilton transferred out after last season. Brendan Marafino, Patrick Smith, and Bernard Amofa make it a great night for the Knights.
Bishop Montgomery: 56-21
