2.) On this date a year ago: former USC basketball coach Bob Boyd died at 84. Boyd coached at USC from 1967 to 1979. In 1971 the Trojans were 24-2 overall and ranked number five in the country at one point.

4.) On this day in 1967 the Green Bay Packers beat the Kansas City Chiefs 35-10 in Super Bowl I at the Coliseum. Bart Starr is named MVP.
