La Mirada won a State Championship. Do we need to say more? Probably not, but we will.
The Matadores didn’t just win, they dominated on their way to the Suburban League title, the Southeast Crown and finally the State Championship. After a September 18th loss to San Clemente, La Mirada ripped off 12 victories in a row. In those 12 games the closest any team got was 22 points and that was Oceanside in the first round of State. The Mats only allowed 14 points in five league games and pitched three shutouts.
They scored at least 63 points in one three game league stretch and scored 76 in another. These weren’t contests they were obliterations. There were times in the last few years that Moschetti was criticized for early round playoff exits. This year nobody came close to the Matadores in the league or the post season.
The Mats had the talent and this year Moschetti brought it all together. He took the heat once but now he deserves the accolades. For 2015 Mike Moschetti is our Southeast Division Head Coach of the Year.
