The Peterson Principle: 4/25/2016

School Board approvals are necessary I guess when a coaching hire is made. But sometimes they take longer than it does to get a bill passed.

I was told nearly three months ago that a coach was hired. All that was needed was “board approval.”

Well one board member left, another one came in and the request had to be resubmitted. More delays when certain language wasn’t understood, and here we are close to 90 days later and nothing is resolved.

Another source told me that there still needed to be board approval on the hiring of a football coach that I reported a month ago. I was told by the new head coach and the administrators at the school that it was a done deal but board approval is still needed? Wow, I wonder how that one will turn out?

At one school a head coach was announced only to be dismissed a few weeks later when certain issues hadn’t been resolved at the previous school.

I understand the necessity of all the boxes being checked and the red tape being cut, but once a recommendation is made the process should be expedited. And if it hasn’t been approved don’t announce that it has.

Such is the life of a high school football coach, or any high school sport for that matter.

The Dodgers were up 7-1, down 10-7, then back up 12-10 before finally holding on for the win. Just another day at the office at Coors Field. Note to locked out Dodger fans. You might find some solace in the fact that you didn’t miss Vin Scully in this one. He doesn’t make the trips to Colorado.

Again, I said you might find solace but I doubt it. I feel your pain, I really do.

I don’t like ever saying that a team quit, especially when you’re getting paid millions to play, but did anybody see the Rockets lose to the Warriors Sunday? That wasn’t cool. The question with Dwight Howard is not whether or not he’ll be back with Houston but who else would want him?

I had to post all the Buena Park offers to bring out the Anthony White bashers. Didn’t we all know that was coming? I still don’t understand it. Isn’t that the idea? To get kids to the next level?

With the new division realignments there will be a lot of schools that will be removed from our coverage area. Almost the entire Northwest Division will be wiped out. I wonder if we have room to bring in Buena Park? I mean if nothing else, it would be entertaining.

Are then any odds in Vegas as to who the number one pick will be in the NFL draft? Who’s favored? Carson Wentz or Jared Goff?

I won’t say Yasiel Puig’s throw to third from deep right field on Friday night was the greatest ever, (anybody remember Dave Parker?) but it has to be in the top five. Sorry locked out Dodger fans. No solace in that one. You definitely missed it. Thank God for highlights.

That’s my principle.
