The TEN

The TEN

(“The TEN” is not a top ten but ten items worth being included in “The TEN”)

1.) “I thought title 9 was to afford females opportunity to get equal funding so females can participate and excel in all sports. Looks like there is a loophole the activists overlooked while trying to force an agenda…DNA. So remind me, whats the point of title nine ????”—Commenter “Nobody” on blog about Alaskan boy claiming to be a girl and running against girls in a track & field competition.

2.) “There is no such thing as a “soft” taco. All that is, is a skimpy burrito. About 30 cents of filling and they want 3 bucks.”—MVS commenter “Frito Bandito”

3.) The Los Angeles Dodgers have recalled Austin Barnes from Oklahoma City.

4.) Former Arroyo quarterback Dominic Salmon turns 28. Salmon went 26-10 as a three year starter (2003-2005) for the Knights. He went 3-3 in the post-season and helped advance the 2004 team to the semifinals.

5.) ”Joe Frazier is an Uncle Tom. He works for the enemy.”—Muhammed Ali

6.) “Twelve full minutes left in a game, down only 20, in a league with a 24-second shot clock and three-point line…And the Cavs fold their tents…I can’t shake it…I may be an anachronism from another day…but it just goes against everything I ever learned in sports.”—MVS staffer Joe T. on Facebook Sunday night after Game Two of the NBA Finals.

7.) Muhammed Ali and Joe Frazier fought for the first time on March 8, 1971, shortly after Ali’s return from a three-year ban for his refusal to fight in the Vietnam war. During that ban, Frazier had supported Ali both financially and in public statements.

8.) On this date 72 years ago, June 6, 1944, the D-Day invasion “Operation Overlord” was launched in northern France.

9.) “A white lawyer kept him out of jail. And he’s going to Uncle Tom me?”—Joe Frazier on Muhammed Ali

10.) ”The world has lost a great champion. I will always remember Joe with respect and admiration. My sympathy goes out to his family and loved ones.”—Muhammad Ali on the death of Joe Frazier

"Anyone who has a kid trying out for his High School football team needs to read this book. Torosian has taken his 20 some years of reporting on Prep sports, mixed a healthy dose of San Gabriel Valley insider references and created a very readable first effort." "A page turner...I'm sorry it's over! Is a sequel in the works?" "Torosian does for high school football what Hemingway did for the Spanish Civil War...compelling look beyond the scoreboard and into the lives of players..." "A truly great story unfolds in the pages of Joe Torosian's first novel. With high school football at its core, the story of Dale Andrade shows how a young man grows in all aspects of his life thanks to being a part of a team and a football community." “This is a great read for everyone: from those who love high school football to those who have no idea about the game.” "This book brings you onto the field and into the locker room..."
