1. Hall of Fame linebacker Mike Singletary has been hired to work for the Los Angeles Rams in an advisory role for the defense.

2. Former major leaguer Jim Hickman passed away at the age of 79 last Saturday. Hickman, who played for the Cubs, Mets , Dodgers and Cardinals, was the player who hit the game ending single in the 12th inning of the 1970 All-Star game that sent Pete Rose barreling over catcher Ray Fosse for the winning run.

3. Brock Stewart gives up five runs and seven hits in his Major League debut as the Dodgers fall to the Milwaukee Brewers 7-0.

4. The Indianapolis Colts sign quarterback Andrew Luck to a six-year, $140 million extension.

5. Former Keppel Aztec star wrestler and Northview assistant wrestling coach Charlie Valencia has been named assistant wrestling coach at USC.

6. Cleveland’s Lebron James opts out of his $24 million option for next season and will officially be a free agent July 1.

7. Only two ball parks are still in existence since Vin Scully’s first year as Dodger broadcaster in 1950 – Wrigley Field in Chicago and Fenway Park in Boston.

8. La Mirada’s Elijah Hicks has received 31 offers. His latest is from USC.
