1. Texas Rangers DH Prince Fielder’s career could be over due to a neck injury. Doctors will not clear him to play after an MRI on July 19 showed a herniation of disks in his neck and Fielder is expected to announce his retirement.

2. U.S Swimmer Katie Ladecky won her second gold medal at the Rio Games as she edged Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom on Tuesday night to win the 200 meter freestyle.

3. Serena Williams loses in the third round to Elina Svitolina of Ukraine 6-4, 6-3, in singles at the Rio Games.

4. The U.S Women’s Gymnastics team wins gold Tuesday at the Rio Games.

5. UCLA receiver Cordell Broadus, son of rapper Snoop Dogg, quit the team for the second straight year before camp began.

6. The Cleveland Browns name Robert Griffin III the starting quarterback.

7. Michael Phelps wins his 20th gold medal overall as he wins the 200 butterfly.

8. University of Arizona senior lineman Zach Hemmila died in his sleep. There is no word yet on cause of death.

9. On this day in 1984 U.S runner Mary Decker trips on the heel of Zola Budd and falls at the Coliseum in the 3000 meters at the Summer Olympic games in Los Angeles.
