(Carson) – Daniel Steres scored on a header in the 62nd minute to gain a 1-1 tie with Colorado Saturday night before 25,667 at StubHub Center.

The first half  was scoreless as both teams performed well defensively. The Rapids broke through in the 51st minute when Shkelzen Gashi took a pass from Marlon Hairston and blasted it by Galaxy goalkeeper Brian Rowe.

LA got even later when Steven Gerrard’s corner was played perfectly by Steres as he headed it into the back of the net.

Rowe went down late in the game as he appeared to be kicked in the head and had to be replaced by back-up Dan Kennedy.

The Galaxy is now 9-3-11 with the tie, good enough for third place in the Western Conference. Colorado is 11-3-9, four points ahead of LA.
