(Hacienda Heights) The Los Altos Conquerors remained unbeaten Friday night after taking on the Chino Cowboys and running away with a 39-7 victory on the campus of Los High School.

The fireworks started early for both teams as the Cowboys needed only one play to get a score and get the party started. Andrew Almazan took the opening play from scrimmage 73 yards to paydirt. Patrick Perez booted through the extra point to give Chino the early 7-0 lead.

It didn’t take Los Altos to get on the board as Tyler Nevens took the ensuing kickoff at his own two, knifed through the Cowboy coverage and raced 98 yards to glory. Anthony Lopez took the snap on the extra point try, dropped back and found Nick Gonzales in the corner of the endzone to complete the two point conversion.

Willie Morris had trouble getting loose from the Los Altos D.

From there out it was all Los Altos. After a five play drive stalled at the Chino four, Hunter White came on a nailed a 21 yard field goal to push the lead to 11-7.

Los Altos scored twice more to round out the first have on a 24 yard pass from Kody Olmos to Lopez and a nine yard run by Nevens.

With just under five minutes left in the third, Nevens got his third score of the night on a one yard run and showed his passing skills on the Conquerors final score. Nevens took a pitch from Olmos but instead of turning the corner, he pulled up and fired a pass down field to Art Vargas. Vargas took it the rest of the way to complete the score.

Nevens finished the night gaining 162 yards on 18 carries with two touchdowns rushing, one passing and the special teams score.

Opening the holes up front for Nevens were Raymond Alvarado, Oscar Villa, Gabriel Estrada, Juan Lomeli and Keil Caal.

Almazan finished the night rushing for 151 yards on 13 carries and the one touchdown but went down in the third quarter with what looked to be a rib injury.

Plowing the road for Almazan and Willie Morris were Samuel Cole, Brandon Serrano, Steven Lopez, Anthony Tijerina and Tevita Fuimaono.

Morris managed 81 yards on eight carries and three receptions for 22 yards.

Up next for Los Altos is a battle with undefeated Charter Oak at Charter Oak High School. Chino will return home next Friday and take on West Covina.
