(Glendale)—The contest between Crescenta Valley and Burroughs is easy to sum up. The Falcons scored touchdowns and the Indians responded with field goals, and CV came away with a 38-9 victory on Friday night at Moyse Stadium in Glendale.
The win improved the Falcons to 5-0 in the Pacific and 7-1 overall. It all set up a Week Nine clash with idle Burbank next week. The Bulldogs are undefeated in the league play, 5-0, 6-2 overall, and the winner will lock up the title.
Burroughs fell to 3-2, 4-4 overall.
Crescenta Valley started early when Joe Suh turned the corner and raced 51-yards to paydirt.
The Indians responded five minutes later with a 22-yard field goal from Jonathan Rivas.
The Falcons Alex Atanackovic answered that with a 39-yard field goal of his own. Then quarterback Cole Doyle connected with Will Rees midway in the second quarter for a 14-yard touchdown pass.
CV then lowered the boom when Grady Schilling returned an interception off of Hayden Zepeda 43-yards for a touchdown to make it 24-3.
Burroughs came back with a 42-yard Rivas field goal to end the first half. Then to start the second half, Rivas drilled a 43-yarder and the score was 24-9 in favor of the Falcons.
That was it for the Indians.
Crescenta Valley added a 1-yard run by Doyle and an 18-yard scoring run by Daniel Cho to secure its sixth consecutive victory.
