Anthony White Out at Buena Park

After seven seasons, Anthony White's run at Buena Park has come to an end.

After seven seasons, Anthony White’s run at Buena Park has come to an end.

Citing that he’s not stepping down but stepping up as a father and a husband, Anthony White has resigned as head coach at Buena Park.

tdchristmas1White prepped at Rosemead and in 1998 won the High School Heisman Trophy. He took over a Buena Park team that went 2-8 in 2009 and immediately led the Coyotes to a 6-5 overall record and the playoffs in his first year in 2010.

Buena Park had a winning record in every year of White’s tenure and missed the playoffs just once during that seven year run. The Coyotes advanced to the semi finals in 2014 and ’15. This past season they went 10-2 overall before falling to Division 3 CIF Champion Edison in the second round. On October 21, Buena Park had a huge win over La Habra, who had been a nemesis over the years.

White was also instrumental in getting several of his athletes to the next level.

He played college football at Utah.

2009, Temple City: 5-4-1

2010-2016, Buena Park: 59-22

Total: 64-26-1

Buena Park’s search for a new head coach will begin immediately.

Coaching is hard. I know most people think it’s easy. You watch a game and think to yourself… hey, I can do that. Well, you can’t! It’s hard to coach… even harder when you hire a coach who comes straight from pop warner. success at the youth level doesn’t equate to success at the varsity level. Coaches must pay their dues that’s how you learn. There are no cheats there is way around this rule.

Sorry coach but Claremont has had some of the finest talent in the SGV the last 4 years and has failed to produce. They need to start over.

This is a big shocker! It would be even a bigger shocker if coach O isn’t name the head coach and hold down the fort for a few years until coach White returns.

Just saw a post that in California the coaches stipend breaks down to 0.75 per hour!!… not to mention the countless individuals who volunteer to help with a program. Can you blame these guys for stepping away?

@NWO, these coaching changes & passing tournaments generate more comments than the actual games during the season.

Really turned things around and helped a lot of kids out in the process. People can say what they want but a lot of those people never accomplished anything in their lives so they will continue to hate!

First of all CIF now allows year round football which is making the Amount of hours for a public school coach almost impossible to handle. 2nd of all now the 7 on 7 team false promises are making a bunch of these kids feel entitled and basically making them uncoachable. Coaches having to put in 9 months or more per year and to have to deal with the 7 on 7 kids, the recruiting etc. It will be the death of football, CIF go back to may through December or your cash cow will die.

What Anthony was able to do at BP in Seven years is amazing! I’m greatful for the opportunity given and blessed to have been part of it. The staff was loaded with great coaches and great people. The administration, community and student athletes were 2nd to none. Having been able to work with Anthony, Jude and the rest of the staff has helped me grow as a coach, father and man. Thanks AW!

Why isn’t Jude Oliva a candidate for any one of those jobs? With all this movement where does that leave Lopez and the rest of Oliva’s staff at? Is Elias still on staff at BP? If so where does he end up?… the next weeks are gonna be interesting.

Frank Gallardo of South El Monte is the top candidate for the Los Altos Job. Would be a steal for the conquerors. Especially if he’s able to bring his entire staff

@NWO the only things that would happen with White at Rosemead and Oliva back at SG would be a whole lot of recruiting against each other that would probably turn bad and a whole bunch of seasons with no championships lol!!!!!! And before you start your arguments defending them that they were in a tough league, yes I admit they were! However the last 3 years at least they have been the far more superior athletic team. And yes I’ve seen them both play!

Wondering if any of those guys will stay or come back to some of the local teams in need of great coaches???
