On offense we went with three running backs instead of including a tight end, because their numbers were too big to ignore. Like we’ve stated before, we only name one team and none of these three could be left out. We’ve also included our kicker and punter.

QB: Steven Comstock – Northview: Can throw (2,679 yards) and run (830 yards).

RB: Bobby Cole – Sierra Canyon: 2,380 yards rushing, 34 touchdowns, a CIF title and a State championship.

RB: Sal Tovar – South El Monte: 2,953 total yards.

RB: Tyler Nevens – Los Altos: 2,533 yards and 40 touchdowns.

WR: Antwuan Ayers – Northview: 68 catches for 1,465 yards and 21 touchdowns.

WR: Brian Casteel – Charter Oak: Could have also been a running back, D1 offers as a receiver.

OL: Kanan Ray – Sierra Canyon: Committed to UCLA.

OL: Kevin Salvador – South El Monte: Best lineman at South; paved the road for Tovar.

OL: Oscar Villa – Los Altos: Described by coaching staff as a “Beast,” opened holes for Nevens.

OL: Abbas Darwiche – San Dimas: Saints ran behind Darwiche for 4,318 yards.

OL: Kobe Toa – La Mirada: Most talented lineman on a great O-line. Headed to Southern Utah.

K: Jesse Ortiz – Arroyo: 64 of 67 on PATs (all three were blocked). Hit the end zone consistently on kick offs, clutch.

P: Hunter White -Los Altos: Averaged over 40 yards a boot.

Individual Awards

Coach of the Year: Jim Singiser – Arroyo

Player of the Year: Bobby Cole – Sierra Canyon

Most Valuable Player: Sal Tovar – South El Monte

Newcomer of the Year: Ernesto Camacho – Arroyo

Offensive Coordinator of the Year: Mark Serve – Sierra Canyon

I forgot Alphonso Castillo will make a big impact both ways for the Cats. Injuries slowed him down last year but when healthy he’s a beast!

Word on the street is there might be a stud Freshman QB headed to Monrovia. Defense should be good with Javen Walker back! D1 talent needs to mature a bit off the field though. Offense should be loaded with Possibly the fastest player in So Cal in Michael Washington at WR and Maury Rams at RB.

You are so Funny!! LMAO!! Monrovia! Monrovia! Monrovia! In Division 7 they are still rated #9 They were one of the Top 16 teams in the Division. They won their league when the State Finalist was returning. Sorry boys there are 23 teams in the Division you are not going anywhere. You got so use to eating up all the guppies swimming in your small fishbowl, that now you are where you belong you don’t like going 1 and out… Too bad, life sucks when a Blue Gill meets A Sea Bass!!! Hopefully you will get Arroyo to pick on and see how fast they swim!!!

If I remember correctly they made it to second round in playoffs and lost by one point to quartz. Good luck with Chou in Monrovia, you’ll see, you know what I mean. Kid will be running out of there soon. Because they’ll be down to division 13 real quick.

Arcadia? now thats a joke, with all the kids from anywhere USA they still can’t compete. Monrovia will be loaded and you will see this fall why. Nice try tho, your recruiting efforts will fail this side of the 605. For having a new coach Monrovia did very well I may ad could have done better but thats when you don’t have it together at the beginning of the season. Next years team will be very prepared and full of Chou if you know what I mean.AJ Carreon is going to prove everyone wrong when it comes to a QB, he’s healthy knows how to stay in the pocket and can deliver on a dime. The rest is well, You Know! RELOADED,OVER AND OVER AGAIN

Even if Monrovia was “LOADED” head coach is no bueno so they will go no where, and if they make playoffs they will lose first round just like last year. The talented kids are better off going to Arcadia…

Word on the street is Monrovia is stacked and looking Extremely healthy in every position except for Qb. They better hope one falls out of a tree or a good Qb transfers in. If that happens look out for the Wildcats in 2017 to go far.

Good choices. Wish you would have 3 receivers and 2 running backs but I understand why you didn’t. Ayers and Casteel went farther in the playoffs and deserve it but I hope that Gabriel Huerta was at least a name that came up. He led the division in receiving and had 24 touchdowns. In its history, El Rancho has never had a receiver who had the type of season Huerta had.

You shouldn’t be so bittier. SC is getting all kinds of love here. Hunter White is a legit K/P. He is among the state leaders in Punting Avg, & KO Touchbacks. He is the only kicker in the state who was perfect in PAT with 55+ attempts. He pinned his opponents inside their 20 yard line 23 times with booming punts that allowed his cover team to get there. He was a major weapon for a CIF Finalist…let the kid have his day!

Sierra Canyons Niko Harris is far a better kicker and punter than Ortiz and White AND HE’S A QB. This a joke, but like always they just put who ever for the kicking and punting positio….
From T. Peterson: Several things here. First Niko Harris missed nearly the entire season to an injury so of course his stats would pale in comparison to Ortiz and White. So he wouldn’t be considered. I wish he would have been healthy the whole season…great quarterback…but he wasn’t. As far as White, he had the highest yards per punt of anybody in this area on a national scale – over 40 yards per punt. Ortiz was nearly perfect on extra points (his only misses were blocked) and was clutch on FG – SEE CIF Final. And on your last statement “just put who ever for the kicking and punting position” uh…yeah… when we choose a kicker and punter we look at the kicking and punting positions. Guilty as charged.

    @Jerry605,

Who are the other d-1 qbs other than fink and chad Jeffries? I cannot think of any other qbs in the ago who went onto be division 1 college qbs. It’s a very hard thing to accomplish to find a d-1 QB scholarship from one of the 107 FBS schools from the most demanding position in all of sports.

FYI Arroyo was in Division 12 not 13. The whole thing boils down to a few of you who do not care for the players that do well from the Mission Valley League. Hey Arroyo is the best of the worst. Good enough to make the playoffs from the Almont-Suburban-Rio Hond-Del Rio; thus they must have a few quality players. Comacho as an underclassman will only get better and his time will come.

Hats off to Jesse Ortiz and Hunter White for their outstanding performances as kickers and punters respectively. This is a part of the game that is too often neglected by most programs, but certainly not by the most successful programs.

We have had a D 1 QB in the SGV every year. Fink at Glendora, and CO always has a guy. When those two don’t, Amat does. But thanks for the notice. Also, Arroyo didn’t play anyone, I hate to say it. D-13. Enjoy the ring though.

Camacho won D13 against a team that ran a spread offense and had under 100 yards passing for the entire playoffs. That shows you what kind of talent they were playing against. Arroyo should be thankful for those forfeits a couple years ago or they would be getting bounced in the 1st round in D10 like usual. Make sure you go catch a Northview game next year because it’s not often you get to watch a D1 QB in your backyard. Congrats to Camacho on a great season but Comstock is on another level.

@Mvs. 3 reasons why…1. Comstockss numbers would be way over 3000. He only played 2 or 3 quarters for most of the season (not play offs)
2..not taking anything away from Arroyo, Northview had a way tougher schedule
3.. have you seen this kid wrestle? Not only is he a 2 sports kudos he’s ranked #2 in the state I believe.
Camacho got New Comer of the Year. Great accomplishment for a great kid.

Idk how you can have comstock as best Qb. It has to go to Camacho from Arroyo that kid is better than comstock and oh wait he has a ring. Come on stop playing favorites.
From T. Peterson: Wait, now we’re playing favorites AGAINST Arroyo? That’s hilarious! #makeupyourmind
