White Out in TC

Anthony White

(Temple City)- Anthony White has resigned at Temple City after one season as the Rams head football coach.

White will be taking the head coaching position at Buena Park High School which is closer to his Orange County home.

White became the tenth football coach in Temple City history and guided the Rams to a 5-4-1 record in 2009. Following a Week Ten loss to San Marino, and later to La Canada in a Rio Hondo League playoff at South Pasadena on the same evening, TC failed to make CIF.

Spartan quarterback Rocky Moore’s two-point conversion pass to Michael Arkfeld ended the Temple City season and knocked them out of post-season for the first time since 1997.

White was hired on March 23 of 2009, two months after the school dismissed former head coach Randy Backus.

in 2008 White served on Matt Koffler’s staff at Rosemead, a season ending with the Panthers playing Paraclete in the Mid-Valley Division finals.

In 1998 White, a Rosemead alum, was awarded the coveted High School Heisman and went on to play football at the University of Utah. After college he returned to coach at Rosemead, then Hacienda Heights-Wilson before returning to Rosemead as defensive coordinator in 2006. Following a season coaching special teams and defensive backs at Pasadena City College, White returned to the Panther fold in 2008.

At Buena Park he replaces Rob Ryan, who went 3-26 over the last three seasons leading the Coyote program. Buena Park plays in the Freeway League.

Temple City will immediately begin the search for a new coach.
