Andres Fernandez, who played college football at the University of La Verne, is now moving on to the Hungarian League. Fernandez has reached an agreement to play for the Gyor Sharks.
Fernandez played high school football at San Gabriel before continuing his career at La Verne. Now it’s time for a new adventure in Hungary.
I seen this young man play. He is a very good receiver and can flat out go get. Very proud of seeing a local
THERE ARE 23 COUNTRIES IN EUROPE PLAYING PRO, THEY ARE IDOLIZED LIKE THE PROS HERE, THEY MAKE WAY LESS MAYBE 40K TO 250K BUT THE COST OF LIVING IS NOT AS HIGH SO THEY LIVE WELL, ALSO THEY ARE AT TIMES DRAWN INTO CONTRACTS OF COMMERCIALS , AGAIN MORE MONEY, THEY SOMETIMES COME BACK TO THE U.S. TO PLAY, THE LESSONS THEY LEARN AND CULTURES IS PRICELESS! GOOD LUCK KID
Congrats Fern! The Oliva Family is so happy 2 see you accomplish your goals! It has been awesome seeing you play all these yrs since Jude (Coach O) coached u at SG and then seeing u play on Saturday’s at la Verne! Enjoy this new chapter and remember to keep God first always!
Getting a lot of money is not the point, and acknowledging that fact doesn’t make you one a hater. The value of this is not in the pay (football is a lot more obscure than handball over there, and Hungary is a lot poorer than Germany or Sweden), but in the fact that it offers a rare and exciting opportunity. I’m sure my job pays a lot more, but that doesn’t mean that I’m not jealous AF.
The average pro Team Handball player in Northern Europe makes well over one million per year. They pay their pro athletes crazy money over there.
All the haters are bragging about there salary here in the SGV. Good for you haters, I here the minimum wage just went up for you guys.
Yeah, he’s probably not really getting paid. Probably just enough to pay for rent and gulyas, and a bit left over to keep him in beer. Playing football, seeing the world, and running around with braless Magyar honeys…this kid is living the dream! He’ll have some pretty sweet memories after this.
Hey, Ledesma might have more players in the pros than anybody! Take that haters.
What salary are we talking here? Chances are, if you’ve never heard of the team, you’ve never seen a pay scale so low. I have, however, heard of San Gabriel…which is what makes me question the value of these roster spots.
That’s awesome congratulations young man
I drafted him in the old Mid valley draft
