1. Marcus Stroman throws six innings of no hit ball to lead USA to an 8-0 win over Puerto Rico Wednesday night to win the World Baseball Classic.

2. Dallas Green, who managed the Philadelphia Phillies to the World Series title in 1980, and also managed the New York Yankees and the New York Mets, passed away Wednesday at the age of 82.

3. Oklahoma City’s Russell Westbrook records the first ever perfect triple-double in a 122-97 win over Philadelphia. Westbrook went 6-6 from the floor and 6-6 from the free throw and finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 14 assists.

4. Dodger outfielder Andre Ethier may miss the season opener after receiving a pain killing injection as treatment for a herniated disc in his lower back.

5. Linebacker Manti Te’o, who spent the first four years of his career with the San Diego Chargers, signed a two-year deal with the New Orleans Saints.

6. Jerry Krause, the Chicago Bulls General Manager during their 1990’s dynasty that saw them win six NBA titles with Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, passed away at the age of 77.

7. Only Rosemead at 4-3 is above .500 in the MVL in baseball.

8. South Hills’ senior Jacob Amaya is hitting .429 in his first seven games.

9. Former Lakers’ guard Gail Goodrich turns 74 today.

10. Oregon vs Michigan, Sweet Sixteen matchup, today 4:10 p.m. Kansas City, MO.

    I’m shocked we haven’t heard from lavar yet on how he and/or his sons could easily top Westbrook’s feat.

    MVL must be the worst league around the area. Bassett 1-5, Bosco Tech 0-4, Pioneer 2-6 and a decent South Pas team, and the only team that they played and beat above .500 (@ 5-4-1) . All the teams from MVL should be in Division 7.
