- Ontario Reign begin Calder Cup playoffs against the San Diego Gulls on Friday.
- The Pecos League, which is an Independent League in baseball, begins play May 17, 2017. The Hollywood Stars will begin play on May 25, 2017.
- Champion Turf filly Tepin was retired today at the age of six. She won 13 of 23 races and earned $4.4 million.
- NFL schedule is to be released on Thursday evening.
- Los Angeles Dodgers are currently 7-7 and two games behind the Colorado Rockies. The Angels are currently mired in a 20 inning scoreless streak and are 6-8, 3 1/2 games behind.
- On this date in 1995, Joe Montana retired at the age of 38. The ceremony drew 20,000 people in San Francisco.
