  1. Classic Empire, 2nd in the Derby and Preakness is a possible for the Belmont Stakes. Also being pointed is Epicharis, Irish War Cry and J Boys Echo.
  2. Angels will be without Mike Trout for 6-8 weeks after sustaining a thumb injury that will require surgery.
  3. NCAA baseball tournament begins this weekend. Long Beach St. regional includes, LBSU, UCLA, Texas and San Diego St.
  4. Bryce Harper vs Hunter Strickland.
  5. The California Horse Racing Board is tossing around the idea of having a California circuit that will consist of Golden Gate Fields, Santa Anita, Del Mar and Los Alamitos to help try and grow field sizes.
  6. UCLA begins NCAA Softball tournament on June 2.
  7. St. Lucy’s improbable softball playoff run continues today when they host Camarillo in semifinals.
  8. Penguins take game 1 of the Stanley Cup playoffs last night, 4-3.
  9. 35 years ago today, Cal Ripken Jr. began his consecutive-games-played streak with the Baltimore Orioles when he played third base against the Toronto Blue Jays.
