1.Justin Turner hit two home runs to lead the Dodger to a 6-4 victory over the Padres. The Dodgers have won 16 of their last 19 series and split the other three.

2. Former APU Cougar Terrell Watson had ten carries for 44 yards and a touchdown in the Steelers’ 20-12 win over the Giants.

3. Clayton Kershaw will throw a two inning simulated game Wednesday after completing a 50 pitch bullpen session Sunday.

5. Florida has suspended seven players for the season opener against Michigan for charging items to student id’s without funds and selling the items for cash.

6. Justin Thomas shot a 3-under 68 Sunday and won the PGA Championship for his first major of his career.

7. Former Laker player and current president of basketball operations Earvin “Magic Johnson” turns 58 today.

8. On this day in 1981 Mike Schmidt hit his  300th home run. Schmidt went on to hit 548 for his career.

9. Real Madrid star Cristian Ronaldo has received a five-match ban after being sent off in a 3-1 win over Barcelona. Ronaldo got one game for the red card and four for pushing the referee after receiving the red card.

    I have no bias toward APU, so you can believe me when I say that Watson’s performance versus New York is inspirational to us all. Who knows, maybe someday that university will become my local college of greatest interest.
