Game Night: Week 9

San Dimas running into a big Thursday night game against Northview

All Kickoffs are at 7:00 p.m. unless otherwise indicated:

Thursday October 26

Valle Vista

San Dimas (5-3) at Northview (6-2) – Covina District Field
Last Year; Northview 49-34
San Dimas needs a win to force a possible three-way tie in the Valle Vista. Having already lost to Covina, another defeat would land the Saints in third place. Northview is trying to run the league table with another victory. The scoreboard operator should be busy as both teams can score. The Vikings defense ultimately will make the stops necessary late. Northview remains unbeaten in league.
Northview 38 San Dimas 28

Friday October 27

Almont

Bell Gardens (5-3) at Schurr (7-1)
Last Year; Schurr 68-13
Some people think Bell Gardens can ‘pull’ something. Most specifically Lancer fans. With both teams coming in undefeated in the Almont, BG will have to pull something to win the league title. Schurr already took care of rival Montebello and is looking to finish it off with Bell Gardens. Schurr’s offense can be explosive and the defense can make stops when necessary, as it did in the win over the Oilers. BG will compete for awhile but in the end the Lancers will run out of gas. Schurr gets the W.
Schurr 34 Bell Gardens 21

**

Del Rio

El Rancho (3-5) at La Serna (4-4) (California)
Last Year; La Serna 49-23
The Dons loss to Santa Fe last week was painful but if they can beat La Serna this week and get by Whittier in Week 10 they would finish at 3-2 in the Del Rio and have an outside shot at playoffs. La Serna also needs a win to secure a second place finish in league. La Serna looked like itself last week in a big win over Whittier. The Lancers should keep the momentum going against ER. The Dons will fight but eventually they will fall. La Serna puts them away in the second half. Lancers win by a touchdown.
La Serna 24 El Rancho 17

**

Mission Valley

El Monte (5-3) at South El Monte (7-1)
Last Year; South El Monte 19-0
South is two points away from being undefeated. Griffin Bowl is always a great rivalry game but the Eagles will own this one and make a run in the Division 12 playoffs. SEM gets the W.

South El Monte 34 El Monte 14

**

Pacific

Muir (5-3) at Burbank (6-2) (Burroughs)
Last Year; Burbank 38-14

Burbank isn’t about to let Muir get in the way of a Pacific League title.  When the Bulldogs beat CV last week they wrapped up the league. Bulldogs may end this one early. Burbank rolls.

Burbank 35 Muir 10

**

Rio Hondo

Monrovia (2-6) at San Marino (6-1)
Last Year; Monrovia 14-7

Everybody thought these two would play for the Rio Hondo title but nobody thought Monrovia would be 2-6. Meanwhile San Marino has reeled off six straight after losing in Zero Week. Monrovia may have a break out game but it won’t be this week. Titans claim the Rio.

San Marino 38 Monrovia 21

**

San Gabriel Valley

Downey (6-2) at Warren (5-3)
Last Year; Downey 42-35

Great atmosphere. The crowd is capacity every year in this one regardless of where it’s played. Downey has scored 124 points in its last two games after a loss to Paramount while Warren has allowed 96 in the same span. Not a recipe for success if you’re a Bears fan. Vikes roll.

Downey 42 Warren 17

**

Montview

Workman (3-5) at Azusa (4-4) (Citrus College)
Last Year; Azusa 30-6

A win for Azusa would set up a Montview League championship next week with Nogales. The Aztecs won’t let that get away. They won’t be looking past the Lobos. Azusa gets the victory.

Azusa 37 Workman 7

@BGUDONTKNOWS***, It was very easy tonight.

@Oilernation, You have nothing to worry about. BG is trash!!! Just an fyi- place a lot of emphasis on special teams because they’re pretty damn good at kickoff return (lots of practice last night). Other than that….Garbage!!!

Maybe you old guys can go back and read my predictions and why. Grim Monrovia played guys I haven’t even heard of until tonight and made SM look like a JV team in the first quarter. Freshman Nicco Ferro 86 yard romp down the field an it was on from there. Colt74 you know our history…lol but if you thought that the San Dimas Game was great then you missed out on an even greater game over at SM. Like I mentioned Monrovia HAS too many Athletes for the RHL even with our losing record and the great thing is that 90% of the team will be coming back next season to keep the RHL in check. Back to you Grim… You guys put up a pretty good fight in the first quarter against SM but the Rams kept shooting themselves in the foot. I still expect a great game against our former RHL rivals but If you let the Cats out the bag it will be a very Loooong night.

Not impressive okay 34-0 JV 12-6 Frosh so what does that say about your program. And you wonder why Ramos wanted to reach out to the BG youth program and got denied. He has nothing after this year. So I hope he makes the most of what he has, but then again it’s Ramos he will find a way to lose.

    Colt74
MTown with a losing record assured. And with all the hopes on Colorado Blvd pending on a TC M final week showdown for the second and final playoff slot from the RHL. A game CALPREPS is projecting at TC 34 M 28. A rising TC team that M fans likely consider a doormat still.

IF the worst case scenario plays out and M Town goes 2 and forever to miss the playoffs, all that is left to do is pull out the pitchforks and torches.

Needless to say, unless something else is involved, no player is going to transfer to Monrovia and if trends continue, the transfers will all be out of town.

    Yes how things change!

    LA VOZ,
Lower levels past performance is EXACTLY what is used as a thermometer for future varsity success. When your lower levels show success it makes coaching them up on varsity that much easier. A varsity coaches job is a lot easier when the fundamentals are correctly taught in your lower levels.
Last years Covina freshmen went undefeated. Varsity is going to be 7-2 tonight. This is largely due to key Sophomores stepping up.

Now concerning Monrovia. When the Cats lose to San Marino tonight their coach will start packing boxes to make the inevitable easier…bank on it. Too many unhappy parents and alumni.
Monrovia will stop the bleeding before the leg needs to be amputated.

    @ LA VOZ

Hey Menso, if you knew anything about building a program it stars from the lower levels up with everyone on the same page from players to staff.
