Cougars Cruise by Colorado Christian

(Glendora) – Azusa Pacific jumped out to a 9-0 lead, extended it to 15 at the half and rolled to a 92-70 win over Colorado Christian Tuesday night at Felix Event Center.

Darien McCain led the Cougars with eight points including two three pointers in the first half and Mandrell Worthy had seven while Corey Langerveld added six. Petar Kutlesic had four rebounds as the Cougars took a 44-29 lead at the break.

Marcus Fager led Colorado Christian with 12 and Jeremiah Hanson had 10 in the first half.

Colorado was down by 19 at one point but went on a 7-2 run to get back within 14. However McClain hit a three to put APU back up by 17.

A 16-7 run to open the second half put the Cougars up 60-36. The lead eventually hit 30 at 71-41 before APU emptied its bench.  Kutlesic and Langerveld each finished with 13 paving the way for the Cougs balanced attack. Kutlesic also corralled five boards. Tyson Kanseyo scored 12 and pulled down six rebounds. APU had four players with eight points.

For Colorado Christian Fager led the way with 18, Stefan Hackethal had 13 and Hanson ended up with 12.

With the win the Cougars improved to 3-0 on the season.
