I’ve had 4 kids go through CO. I’m sure there are boys from outside the Immediate CO area. I know a lot of the boys and most have lived in the area since elementary. I know some that live in BP, Azusa, I know they had great player from Duarte in the past. But if you are promising football player in the area do you go to Azusa, Gladstone, Covina ? No you wouldn’t you would go to CO or Amat & CO is free. So spare me the recruiting. Covina had a great year but you can’t tell me that all their plavers are from Covina. I know several good football players at So Hills from BP, LP so every school has there few. It is true the larger your enrollment the better your chances Name me one school with a small enrollment it is probably a Private school who does recruit!

The Charter Oak area has a population of approx 9100
15-18 year olds make up about 500
CO High School has 1735 students

so 1235 come from somewhere else……

Got to love ” Home grown ” talent right????

@Pdaddy that enrollment crap doesn’t matter. I am tried of people using that line. CO Recruit most of there roster is from the Pasadena area. Not that many brothas living in the city of Covina just saying.

Division 4 or 5? Charter Oak should definitely be division 2 with the way they recruit! They had to cry to CIF just to stay down in division 3 and they couldn’t even win that! I’m sure Charter Oak lost because of the coaching LOL its not like Big Lou isn’t one of the winningest coaches in SGV football history

I’m not sure you guys know what you’re talking about. Followed CO closely this year. Didn’t see any puffing of chest. They had the players but when your head coach repeatedly uses his top guys both ways & seems to always throw deep with no protection. Your QB will get hit & hurt. If he used his weapons wisely. They would have went up & down the field on them. All season when the had a big lead in games they would not sub in key 2nd stringers that you would need in case of injury. especially their So. QB I had a feeling this would happen. CO gave up 21 pts on turnovers 2 critical ones after QB got hurt. As far as Cathedral I see a lot more puffing of their chest on this board. But haven’t seen any results or chips for that matter. One more thing Rancho Verde enrollment over 3,000 CO’s is about 1,700 CO should probably be in DIV 4 or 5. As far as the fight it was a ghetto security guard the started it. It happens. It sure looked worse than it was. I’m sure Cathedral would have done the same thing. Co still played longer than 95% of you so stop hatin!

I’m not mad; I’m having fun, and I’m looking forward to next year.
By the way, Alhambra did pretty well in 7-on-7 competition during the last offseason. Now, we have to get the other part right.
We made the playoffs in 2016 and fell just a game short this year. There are a few things that need to be fixed, but I believe we’re capable of accomplishing that.

Let’s get back to the topic of 7-on-7 play, which we see in the spring and summer passing tournaments. I think that format, which involves less physical contact, is a potential future trend due to the issue of concussions, the expense of fielding a football team, and declining rosters at many schools.
At the very least, I can see schools such as Mark Keppel, Marshall, and Blair turning to 8-man tackle football.

Do you think Fred J. Robledo will be covering Charter Oaks “we were better than Amat this year”
    banner ceremony.

hahaha don’t be mad because none of your teams can hang with Cathedral. There’s only a handful of teams on this site that even belong on the same field as the Phantoms, probably the writer’s top 5. Don’t be mad because your teams aren’t good at real football or 7 on 7 lol

Hey, 7-on-7 is similar to flag football, and could it be the wave of the future at the high school level? Maybe they’re on to something, and we just don’t know it yet…

Too bad for Charter Oak, but the sweetheart drop down days of Division 5 where the CIF tried to gift them a championship –are all over.
