Colts Start Fast, Finish Northview 59-38

(Covina) – Covina jumped out to a 16-2 first quarter lead and never looked back in a 59-38 rout of Northview Friday night in Valle Vista League action.

The Colts led by as many as 20 in the second quarter before a late Northview run just before halftime cut the Covina lead to 26-13 at the break.

Covina blew it wide open in the third quarter outscoring the Vikings 24-6 in the quarter to push the lead to 31 at the end of three. Andrew Higley led the way in the third knocking down a three and scoring seven in the quarter. Bryan Olivera had six in third and hit a trey as well.

Covina Coach Will Bissman gave his starters the rest of the night off as he emptied his bench in the fourth quarter.

Higley led the Colts in scoring with 15, Dale Walker had 13 and Olivera ended up with 10. Jahmal Clark had seven points inside and Daniel Hernandez hit a pair of threes for six.

For Northview guard Johnny Mallen led the team with 12 and Sam Cano hit three three pointers and finished with 11, all in the fourth quarter.

The Colts improved to 13-8 overall and 3-0 in the Valle Vista while Northview fell to 4-17 and 0-3.
