(Glendora) – Jerry Lewallen stepped down as the head football coach at Glendora Wednesday after six seasons sources confirmed.
Lewallen guided the Tartans to the second round of the CIF Division 4 playoffs this past season before falling to Murrieta Mesa 54-20, finishing 8-4 overall.
Lewallen went 43-25 during the six-year run missing the playoffs just twice in that span. Glendora’s best year in the Lewallen era was 2015 when the Tartans went 11-2 and advanced to the CIF semi finals before falling to Charter Oak 28-14. They also lost to the Chargers in the first round of the playoffs in 2016.
Glendora spent the first two years under Lewallen in the Baseline League moving to the Palomares in 2014.
Glendora will begin the search for a new coach immediately.
Maybe Maggiore or Ziola or Moschetti are ready to get back in the game.
@kilt, Let me take a wild guess who you are…..
Hahahaha
Before Z ran John Strickland off at San Dimas, he was the air apparent to the throne! JS resume includes playing and later coaching with the living legend Lou Farrar at Charter Oak, OC at Covina under Daryl Thomas during their title run years in the early 2000s, along with calling the offense/defense/special teams at San Dimas during their dominance just a few years ago. He even loaded film on HUDL!! He brings a wealth of knowledge, so if the powers that be at Glendora see this, call John Strickland!
There is also former la cañada head coach Ryan zerbel who teaches at Sandburg middle school. He could be a potential coach for Glendora.
I wonder if the principal stays completely out of the search since Rhorer is his son.
After extensive analysis the IRS has determined that a socal high school football coach is the worst payiing job in California. After expenses the average coach loses about 7,ooo$$$ per season. The bright side is about 50 bucks of it may be tax deductable.
Wow, Glendora wasting no time! Big Announcement today at 430pm. CongratZ to the new HC at Glendora!
These are all great comments and fun to read. Reality is this:
1) Public school, can’t pay guys that much. Mustain and Holman already work at solid districts and it would hurt them too much to move so that is out.
2) Glendora didn’t pass bond to build on campus stadium so they are still at mercy of Citrus so Luxury boxes are out.
3) The jet is a possibility
4) Clubhouse 66 all Friday Nights and Saturday mornings complementary food and drinks is a reality.
5) Z is completely out if they don’t let him stay admin and coach. Maybe they can call him the AD or something to give him admin pay. IDK
6) Rohrer is good guy but not the right HC to take Glendora to Title Town.
Z, how much would I get paid to be your whipping boy like old days?
Z is also negotiating his assistants salary and benefits… i.e. moving Mustain back in the saddle as Dc and Holman to OC…
Z and his agent are negotiating ownership percentages, a private suite for family and friends, private jet use, and statue placement! Base salary in the mid seven figure range, with incentives for each ring that gets placed in the trophy case under his tenure!
Roher is not the guy for Glendora. Not ready to work hard enough. Z is hungry. 10 years $2 million dollars should do it.
Z would be a choice. How about Brandon Rohrer?
Z is negotiating a John Gruden type deal this morning.
Glendora- Z he is already there as admin
