(Covina) –  Jermaine Braddock and Chase Evans combined for 40 points and it proved to be enough for Charter Oak in a 57-52 win over Diamond Ranch Friday night in Hacienda League action.

It was a tight battle throughout the contest before the Chargers finally separated themselves in the fourth quarter. Charter Oak led by five after one but Diamond Ranch cut it to two at halftime at 25-23. The two teams played it even in the third quarter as the Chargers took a 38-36 lead heading into the final frame.

Charter Oak finally got some breathing room early in the fourth opening up a seven point advantage. Braddock had eight of his 21 in the fourth while Evans scored two buckets down low. The Panthers tried to keep pace as Coree Joseph buried a couple of deep threes to keep them in the hunt.

Once Charter Oak established control Diamond Ranch began to foul starting a Charger parade to the free throw line.  Charter Oak was up to the task knocking down 10 of 14 from the charity stripe in the quarter. Noah Que was perfect from the line hitting all six of his attempts to ice it for the Chargers.

Joseph hit four from beyond the arc and was the only Panther in double figures with 16 points. Michael Miller and Connor Parker each had eight and Trevor King added seven.

Braddock’s 21 led Charter Oak and Evans poured in 19 to form the dynamic duo. Que was also in doubles with 12.

With the victory the Chargers improved to 15-6 overall and 4-2 in league. Diamond Ranch fell to 17-5 and also 4-2 in the Hacienda.
