    It really has been great here the last few weeks and with state playoffs coming up everyone is excited at the school and in the community. People that had neglected the school are now back with pride.

    CIF apparently knew Duarte was a shoe-in to win 5A, as evidenced by the federation granting the Falcons a bye in round one. Perhaps the federation is picking winners in advance, with the aim of rousing interest among the have-nots.

    The new divisions are doing exactly what they were designed for in giving schools a chance to win CIF that never would have if the old divisions were still in place. Arroyo in football would have never had a chance if it still had to play Sierra Canyon, and Duarte and Nogales in basketball would never have win in D3 and D4, but thanks to Wigod they dont have to and there will be many more teams in the years to come to win CIF championships that will benefit.

    @Say Again?
    That was pretty good, I think they were both. Blind and deaf.

    To be honest, I had forgotten about Arroyo’s title of a couple years ago. Was their opponent deaf or blind?

    I don’t care if I played school of the deaf and blind if I’m winning a title, so what!

    You say, ” Not to denigrate…” then that is exactly what you do.
    Congratulations to Duarte HS and Nogales HS. Enough said.

    They both beat schools most of us never heard of but a Championship is a Championship, does anyone remember 2nd place? Does anyone remember who Arroyo beat in football a couple years ago or who the Kings beat in the Stanley cup a few years back.

    I don’t know about most readers of these boards, but I had never heard of Da Vinci Design Academy before yesterday. Not to denigrate the fine kids at Duarte, but it sounds like they got put into CIF’s divisional equivalent of the new 605 league.
