1. NFL Draft – First Five Picks. 1. Cleveland – Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma 2. New York Giants – Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State. 3. New York Jets – Sam Darnold, QB, USC 4. Cleveland – Denzel Ward, CB, Ohio State 5. Denver – Bradley Chubb, DE, North Carolina State.  UCLA QB Josh Rosen is taken 10th by Arizona.

2. The NBA acknowledged that the officials missed a goaltending call on LeBron James’ block of a Victor Oladipo layup at the end of Game 5 which led to the Cleveland Cavaliers win over the Indiana Pacers.

3. Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry is listed as questionable Saturday against the New Orleans Pelicans in Game 1 of the second round Western Conference Series.

4. Houston beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 122-104 Wednesday night to win their first round series in five games. The Rockets will face the winner of the Oklahoma City-Utah series in the second round.

5. Former La Salle pitcher Vanessa Dwyer was named Golden State Athletic Conference Co-Pitcher of the Year for Vanguard University. Dwyer went 20-3 with six shutouts and 18 complete games with a 1.20 ERA.

6. Former Norwalk/San Diego State running back Rashaad Penny is taken with the 27th pick overall by the Seattle Seahawks.

7. The Milwaukee Bucks beat the Boston Celtics 97-86 to force a seventh game in their First Round Eastern Conference Playoff series.

8. Louisville quarterback and 2016 Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson is taken by the Baltimore Ravens with the 32nd pick.

9. The Pittsburgh Steelers traded wide receiver Martavis Bryant to the Oakland Raiders Thursday night for a third round draft pick.

10. The Memphis Grizzlies have reached an agreement with J.B. Bickerstaff on a three-year contract to become head coach. Bickerstaff took over last year as interim coach for Memphis after David Fizdale was fired.

    BA HC is someone from East LA Garfield according to a student. First meeting took place on campus yesterday afternoon.

    This missed goal-tending call is deemed a huge controversy, because it seemingly gave the Cavs the win. What is not being mentioned, however, is that a basketball game –on any level–is absolutely brimming with calls that could have gone the other way, or which may not have been warranted. So the whole thing is just an officiating crapshoot.
