1. Since the Lakers have signed LeBron James Sunday, they have inked Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, JaVale McGee, Lance Stephenson and Rajon Rondo to one-year contracts.

2. The Golden State Warriors sign DeMarcus “Boogie” Cousins to a one-year, $5.3 million deal.

3. The Phoenix Suns are finalizing a five-year $158 million deal with Devin Booker.

4. A.J. Carreon was playing quarterback for South El Monte at the El Rancho Tournament and for Monrovia at the Bonita Air Assault.

5. Los Angeles Rams right guard Jamon Brown has been suspended two games by the NFL for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

6. The Dodgers lead the National League in home runs with 122.

7. Rancho Cucamonga safety Mark Perry has committed to Colorado.

8.  Monrovia and South El Monte are in the same pool (F) at the SGV Shootout at Arroyo Saturday.

9. On this day in 1981 John McEnroe ended Bjorn Borg’s streak of five straight Wimbledon titles with a 4-6, 7-6, 7-6, 6-4 win.

    I didn’t know the NBA had a 99-cent store for worn-out players, but that must be where the Lakers are finding these guys.
