  1. Despite their 4-1 near no-hit loss to the Braves Sunday, the Dodgers went 6-4 on their recent road trip and remain a half game up on the Diamondbacks.
  2. Zlatan Ibrahimovic gets a hat trick in the Galaxy’s 4-3 win over Orlando City. With the win the Galaxy moved into third place in the Western Conference.
  3. The New York Jets and Sam Darnold are expected to reach a deal on a 4-year $30 million contract with a $20 million signing bonus.
  4. Steph Curry will play in the Ellie Mae Classic August 9th on the Web.com Tour. It will be the second year in a row for Curry who missed the cut in last year’s event.
  5. Ram’s cornerback Sam Shields practiced in full pads for the first time since his 2016 concussion.
  6. Former St. John’s Redstorm and Golden State Warrior Chris Mullin turn 55 today.
  7. Former USC tailback Willie Brown passed away last Thursday from cancer at the age of 76. Brown had a brief career in the NFL with the Rams and the Eagles.
  8. On this day in 1996 Tommy Lasorda retires as the manager of the Dodgers.
  9. 18 days until the start of the 2018 high school football season!
