Diamond Bar alum Jonathan Amaya (Nevada Reno) signs as a free agent with Miami Dolphins

T-Minus-135 Days until “The Mid Valley Classic”

Good Evening!

Nothing personal to our friends who used to own and work for the Los Angeles Avengers…but, sorry, Arena Football is so jejune.

Alan Faneca is a nice pick up for the Arizona Cardinals.

Looking forward to having El Rancho HC Rick Zepeda on “The Mid Valley Sports Show” tonight as well as Norwalk HC Jesse Ceniceros.

Next week Whittier Christian HC Sergio Gradilla as well as Herald defensive tackle Jeff Worthy and quarterback Stephen Anderson. New San Gabriel wide receivers coach Matt Lopez will be in for the second hour.

Diamond Bar is the sixth team we’ll take a look at in the new Hacienda League, and the Brahmas have to be feeling good. The league is competitive and their non-league schedule (Nogales, Don Lugo, Wilson, Brea Olinde) is doable.

Andrew Cameron is back at quarterback to play catch with talented receivers Neil Ignacio and George Katrib. The running attack is hurt with graduation of Calvin Bishop, but a whisper has been mentioned to us about Jamaal Clayton, who spent much of his time in the secondary a year ago.

DB will still struggle to make the playoffs for the first time since 2003 because it is undersized in the trenches. Blaize Sanchez and Troy Lanning are excellent defenders but neither one is over 5’10” or over 200-pounds.

Good News? Former Brahma Jonathan Amaya, Nevada Reno, went undrafted this past weekend but signed a free agent contract to play safety for the Miami Dolphins.

Last Add Matt Lopez: The dude just isn’t physical enough on the basketball court.

Fielded another question today about Temple City…Constituent within the city unhappy about the direction of the football program. I told him, if you don’t like what’s going on then write a letter, get a group of people together and tell the school board and the school administration that you will remember all this when election time comes.

And here’s the other thing I said: Put your name on the paper. Stop sniping on the message boards behind a user name, or begging the sports writers to write a column saying how bad the situation is. In other words do your own heavy lifting, because as writers we’ve written all we can write and its not going to make a difference.

Personally I’m saddened by all that’s transpired, but if football is as important as everyone complains about it being…then its time for the community to take some action. If not let the administration and school board do their jobs. The top candidates have been solid, the mechanics either have to be worked out or the community needs to come together and smooth it out.

Do you think part of Jevan Snead is saying; “Dude, maybe we should have gone back to Ole Miss for another season?”

Love the whole push to end childhood obesity…If can make just one suggestion: Get the pyschopaths out of the parks, and maybe a few more parents will let their kids play there. I understand the arguments activist groups will make about them having a right to be there, but the kids, the parents, and families have rights too. They shouldn’t have to share the park bench, picnic area with the pyschotic who would be better served with a 51/50 than being allowed to roam around as a threat to others as well as themselves.

Stay thirsty my friends…
