2. Maryland fired head football coach D.J. Durkin one day after his reinstatement.

3. Derrick Rose scored 50 points for the Minnesota Timberwolves in a 128-125 win over Utah Wednesday night.

4. The San Francisco 49ers beat the Oakland Raiders 34-3 on Thursday night football.

5.The Boston Red Sox World Series trophy had to be repaired after it was hit by a beer can during the championship parade.

6. The Houston Rockets have started the season 1-5.

7. Dave Roberts is expected to return as Dodgers manager next year front office executives suggested at a press conference at Dodger Stadium Thursday.

8. Two high school head football coaches – Covina’s Joe Brown and Canyon’s Rich Gutierrez – resigned before the first CIF post season game had been played.

9. Long time NFL writer “Dr. Z” Paul Zimmerman passed away Thursday at the age of 86.

10. “Ballplayers, like everyone else, like to get told they did something right.” – Willie McCovey.

    In his third year of NBA competition, Wilt Chamberlain AVERAGED fifty for the whole season. And what can I say about Dave Roberts? The man has a special gift of knowing precisely when to pull a pitcher.
    From T. Peterson: You’re right about Wilt. Just a dominant player. But our thing about Rose was that he appeared to be done. He hadn’t scored 50 since the 2011 season then all of a sudden he drops 50. What’s next? Vince Carter wins the slam dunk competition?
