(Baldwin Park) – Fabian Castillo is out as the head football coach at Sierra Vista after a five-year run.
The Dons were 16-35 overall under Castillo including 0-10 this past season. Castillo took over for Don LeGro who stepped down after the 2013 season and went 4-6 in his first year.
Sierra Vista’s best season during Castillo’s reign was 2016 when he led the Dons to an overall record of 7-4 (3-2 in the Montview League) and a playoff berth where they lost to Santa Clarita Christian 35-10.
Sierra Vista struggled the last two years going 1-19 overall.
Castillo now is expected to join the staff at Baldwin Park as an assistant according to a school source.
WIN!!!
Really? This poor guy is let go Jan 22, and the new coach named on the 25th. Come on now. No wonder coaches pick up and leave. The new reality of HS football.
Norco; y Morrison from La Puente and Santiago okay success ;( I know present job is a monster task in that league!) when Buena Park’s outstanding Anthony White is available?
We needed the team better.
@FB: If Medrano turned down interest from Damien why the heck would he want South Hills? He is AD,HC and lives a few minutes from his office with a community that likes him. Not a bad gig.
Rufus would be great hire. Would dominate.
Morrison to South Hills.
If Stevens goes, Rix will be there with him.
Former CO standout and up and coming coach Rufus would be great at SV. Would be a great place to start a HC career. Even as a stepping stone to get us back in the playoffs. Hope he applies!
Coach, Thank you for what you have done for the past 5 years. Our community is better because of you.
Yes in the realm of your dreams.
Any truth to the rumor, Medrano to South Hills?
