(Downey) – The search for a head football coach at Warren heated up this week as the school conducted a second round of interviews.
Warren completed the first round of interviews last Tuesday and those that were fortunate enough to get invited back for round two returned Tuesday. When the final questions had been asked and the dust had cleared four candidates were left standing as the favorites that have emerged to replace Raul Lara, who stepped down after the season.
Former Catherdral head coach Kevin Pearson, Brent Perez, Terrance Austin and a prominent former Orange County head coach are all very much in the hunt sources confirmed. Perez was assistant head coach and the Dean of Students at Warren last year and Austin, a former NFL wide receiver, also served on the Bears’ staff.
As for the prominent former OC HC? From what I’m hearing he has some experience as well.
A school that wanted to hire, not anyone to fill..or a coach that worked his way up the ladder at the school, but searched for great coach and may have got one. If White does what he did at BP I place him (I do not claim to be very smart on subject) in very good to great hs coach
Word out of Warren = A White by a mile
District approval is next
Buena Park went to the semi-finals twice in Division 3 under White.
@Anonymous did Buena Park win a CIF title while white was their. What was his deepest run?
Was Trudell also what the people wanted? Seems they don’t want him anymore. If God himself interviewed for this opening–and he had no varsity head coaching experience–he should be viewed with less interest than a fellow who’s been there and done that. But Jim Arnold wouldn’t consider the almighty for this post, because only his friends get a shot.
If Warren goes with Pearson, he will bring guys in and have a solid football program. But it will be more of the same with what they got from Lara. It’s always more difficult for a walk on coach than an on campus teacher, unless you are an elite Trinity League walk on making six figures and you don’t have to work a day job.
If Anthony White is the mystery OC Coach, I would assume he would be bringing Jude Oliva as OC. If they are both on campus teachers as well as coaches, they will build a championship program and change the culture of that school. They won at Buena Park, so imagine what they could do with twice the student enrollment and twice the resources at Warren.

“The efforts being put forth by the Warren people to obtain the best coach possible compares starkly with what the Cal Condors did in their ‘search.’ Cal failed to list their vacancy on CIF’s site, or even think of looking outside its inner circle of preferred intimates. So the Condors will be led, once again, by a varsity head coaching novice, a man who can be easily manipulated by athletic director Jim Arnold.”
LOL… LMAO… did you apply and not get the job? you sure sound sour! lol
CAL picked the best man for the job… Jim made a smart move, GAVE the people what they wanted.
Armando Ramirez is the front runner for the job. Great interviewer and a laundry list of accolades
I just gotta throw out the following name…Andrew Tovar. A great athlete, great QB, and to my understanding, a great teammate while at Cathedral. Loyal to a program for 4 years, even after the program, or the one at the helm, was not during Andrew’s Senior year.
Dude stop crying give the man a shot all I’ve heard is good things about him as a coach. So get behind your coach and if he ain’t yours than be happy about.
Warren has always been horrible and what smelled the playoffs twice with Lara. So for Warren with a “winner” like Lara they need to to get a winner coach to replace him. But for Cal they didn’t have a real proven winner, so they go with a coach that people wanted and they believe could win. Cal would only go up.
Heard if he gets it Bryce Young is coming to Warren

Warren’s administration is not interested in warm and fuzzy feelings toward their head coach. These people want to win and establish a rock-solid football tradition, so they eschew the buddy system and seek to land the most capable, experienced man available. These administrators know that a happening football program works wonders for their school’s enrollment and reputation, and they are acting on that premise. I commend them highly.
Heard he has Ligma
If the OC Coach is indeed Anthony White, the Pearson vs White interviews should be entertaining!
How much for a live stream on Facebook?
Kevin Pearson is going to the new head coach brother is the baseball there warren will become transfer center
Why did lara step down?
2 teachers 2 walk ons
lara was a walk on like he was at poly and with family at warren Pearson looks good if they want the same as lara
They are pretty serious if they are doing a 3rd interview with the same four guys.
I love it
lets see how serious Warren is about football with this hire
Pearson’s brother is already coaching Warren’s baseball team, so it would seem Kevin has the inside track. Pearson’s recruiting talents don’t hurt his chances either.
I hear the 4th guy is Anthony White. They are also doing a 3rd interview. The end of the week
Anthony White. I also hear they are doing a 3rd interview.
Who cares, Warren SUCKS. GO VIKES !!
South Hills coach chris rix bank on it!!!
