Ford Runs Over Chargers

[Covina] – Glendora’s running back Xzavier Ford found the end zone three times in the Tartans 31-6 victory over host Charter Oak Friday night.

The game started with the teams exchanging punts, but on Glendora’s second possession quarterback Jason Gonzalez found AJ Salgado for a 24-yard strike making it 7-0.

The Tartans found the end zone early in the second quarter when Ford hit paydirt for the first time of the night from 20-yards.

Glendora had a chance to go up three scores before the half but with fourth down and on the five yard line Tartans threw four straight incompletions to go into halftime up 14-0.

The Tartans stayed with the ground game the second half with Ford finding the end zone twice – once from two yards and another where he broke away from the Charter Oak defense and sprinted in from 67-yards making it 31-0.

The Chargers got in the end zone late in the game as two pass interference calls kept its drive alive and running back Josh Pistonni took it in from four yards out. A missed two point conversion made it 31-6

Charter Oak’s starting quarterback Josh Bustillos went down late in the first half after going 5 of 8 for 20-yards. Vincent Farrar took over and didn’t fair much better going 3 of 9 for 15 yards and a interception.

The Chargers managed just under 100 yards of offense. Pistonni finished with 17-carries for 21 yards and their lone score.

Gonzalez went 11 of 22 for 178 yards and touchdown. Ford finished the night with 21-carries for 236-yards and three scores. Noah Acuna chipped in with 12 carries for 71-yards and Eric Golden had a interception.

Glendora (3-0) will host also undefeated Los Altos next week while Charter Oak (2-1) stays home to host Damien.
