Los Altos Knocks Around West Covina

(Hacienda Heights) –  Quarterback David Hacegaba started and Justin Gayton finished as each threw a pair of touchdowns in Los Altos’ 49-7 victory over visiting West Covina  Thursday night.

West Covina started off fast on the second play from scrimmage quarterback Juan Velasquez took a fake pitch to the house from 68-yards putting the Bulldogs up 7-0.

Los Altos answered on a five minute drive that was capped off when Hacegaba hit a wide open Zechariah Rodriguez from 15-yards out tying the game up.

The tie didn’t last long as the Bulldogs fumbled the ball and it was picked up by Rodriguez who took it in the end zone making it 14-7 Conquerors.

Los Altos got on the board again in the first quarter when Hacegaba hit Jonathan Lopez who juked the defense and scored on a 30-yard touchdown pass.

Gayton took over in the second quarter and pounded the ball down field and finished it off with a 10-yard pass to Zedekiah Rodriguez making the score at 28-7 at halftime.

Conquerors kept the pace going in the second half. Gayton found Zedekiah Rodriguez for a finger tip catch and he sprinted in for a 68-yard touchdown connection making it 35-7.

Los Altos got their running game going the remainder of the game as Rene Zaldivar and Lopez scored on runs of 42 and one yard respectively making the final score 49-7.

Hacegaba finished 3 of 4 for 49-yards and two touchdown passes, Gayton went 9 of 12 for 157-yards and two touchdowns.

Zaldivar had 82-yards rushing on eight carries, Lopez had 78-total yards and two scores.

The Rodriguez brothers had a pair of touchdowns each for Los Altos and 104-yards receiving combined.

The Bulldogs got one first down after their opening score and getting just 87-total yards the rest of the game.

Velasquez had 69-yards rushing and 32 more passing after going just 1 of 4.

Los Altos improves to 5-1 and 1-0 in Hacienda league play and will travel to Diamond Ranch next week. West Covina falls to 0-6 and will host Charter Oak next week.

    Rough times at West Covina… hard to fathom they were winning CIF and competing in the Hacienda league. Maggiore left a big shadow a new guy couldn’t get out from. Staff needs to be fired and they new to rebuild from scratch.
