(Covina) – Northview rallied from a six point deficit late in the third quarter and went on to beat Los Altos 20-12 Saturday night in the Spring season finale at Covina District Field.

After the teams went into halftime deadlocked at six the Vikings found themselves down after Justin Gayton hit Zedekiah Rodriguez-Brown on a 37-yard touchdown pass to give Los Altos a 12-6 lead with 2:02 left in the third quarter.

Northview responded immediately when Eric Saiz returned the kick off 83 yards for a touchdown. Miguel Jaramillo’s extra point gave the Vikes a 13-12 lead.

Los Altos handed a Northview a touchdown on the next possession. After the Conquerors were stopped on fourth down at their own 39 Rodriguez-Brown was hit with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. It was the second of the game for Rodriguez-Brown and he was ejected from the game. Los Altos head coach Travis Brown then was hit with another unsportsmanlike when he continued to argue with the officials. Just like that Northview had a first and goal at the Los Altos six-yard line.

Cheo Medina promptly cashed in when he went six yards for a touchdown on the first play and two minutes after being down a touchdown the Vikes were up 20-12.

Los Altos had three possessions in the fourth quarter but was unable to capitalize. The Conqs drove down to the Northview 12 yard line with less than a minute remaining but on fourth down Gaytan’s pass sailed incomplete and the Vikes had the victory.

Rodriguez-Brown put Los Altos up early in the first quarter hauling in a 69-yard touchdown pass from Gaytan for a 6-0 lead.

Northview was in the red zone twice but came up empty before Medina finally broke through with an 8-yard touchdown run to get the Vikings even midway though the second quarter.

It stayed that way until the Los Altos took the short lived lead late in the third.

Both teams had trouble finding their groove. There were seven turnovers on the night overall with Los Altos contributing four of them.

For Northview Medina had 21 carries for 11 yards and 2 touchdowns. James Arellanes completed 8 of 18 for 80 yards and threw 2 interceptions. Rodriguez-Brown had a big night for Los Altos with 7 receptions for 199 yards and 2 scores before getting tossed.

Northivew finished the season at 2-3 overall while Los Altos went 1-4.

Isn’t that what this post is. I am asking the question to the HC and principal, what happened? They made the decisions and why are we in last place and on the verge of not winning a game. Good thing we play Wilson or we would be 0-5.

What happen to us? We practice all year and we put this product on the field with all this talent. I can understand some schools with new coaches and schools that share athletes, but we are Los Altos. As OJ quoted, “I’m not black, I’m OJ.”
