  1. The Angels designated Albert Pujols for assignment which means he will be released as soon as he clears waivers in three days. Pujols is in the final season of his 10-year contract. 
  2. Pujols hit over .300 10 straight years with the St. Louis Cardinals but never hit over .300 once in 10 years with the Angels. He was hitting .198 with 5 home runs and 12 RBI this year. 
  3. After a 6-5, 11 inning loss to the Chicago Cubs Wednesday night, the Dodgers have lost 13 of their last 17 and have a record of 17-15. 
  4. Texas linebacker Jake Ehlinger, 20, brother of former Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger, was found dead in a residential area just west of the Texas campus in Austin on Thursday. 
  5. John Means threw a no-hitter for the Baltimore Orioles Wednesday night in a 6-0 win over the Seattle Mariners. 
  6. The Detroit Lions waived running back Kerryon Johnson.
  7. The Lakers were 37-28, sixth place in the Western Conference, going into Thursday night’s game with the Clippers. 
  8. Steve Randall has reportedly resigned as the head football coach at Pioneer after one season. 
  9. Former major league catcher and MLB manager Del Crandall passed away at the age of 91. 
  10. Former Dodger first baseman James Loney turns 37 today.
