  1. Chris Taylor hit a two-run walk off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Dodgers a 3-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Wild Card game Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium. 
  2. The San Diego Padres fired manager Jayce Tingler Wednesday after two seasons. 
  3. The Rams beat the Seattle Seahawks 26-17 on Thursday Night Football. 
  4. The New England Patriots traded Pro Bowl cornerback Stephon Gilmore to the Carolina Panthers Wednesday for a 2023 sixth round draft pick. 
  5. The Houston Astros beat the Chicago White Sox 6-1 Thursday in Game 1 of the ALDS.  
  6. The Tampa Bay Rays beat the Boston Red Sox 5-0 Thursday night in Game 1 of the ALDS. 
  7. The Brooklyn Nets are unclear on All-Star guard Kyrie Irving’s intentions to get vaccinated and have not made a decision on whether they will accommodate him as a part-time player this season.  
  8. 18 ex-NBA players have been charged in a $4 million fraud scheme. 
  9. Oregon running back CJ Verdell and safety Bennett Williams will both miss the rest of the season with injuries. Verdell suffered a left leg injury in last week’s loss to Stanford and Williams broke his leg in practice last Friday.
